Location

Situated far from the madding crowds, yet conveniently only 45 minutes from Malaga Airport, 10 minutes to Lake Vinuela and 25 minutes to the Mediterranean coast.

The beaches are wide, clean and mostly uncrowded. All along the coast you will find little beachside restaurants known as "chiringuitos" where fresh sardines are grilled over olive-wood fires, and in the Nerja area there are many small rocky coves offering superb snorkelling. There is also a scuba diving school and all other water sports. The whole area is wonderful for walking and bird watching, as we are surrounded by many national parks. El Torcal Park also offers challenging rock climbing.

Our local 'white' village of Riogordo is only 5 minutes away and has a selection of small shops, including two mini-markets which sell fresh bread and most essentials, a pharmacy, several good butchers, fishmongers, a weekly street market and bank.

There are several country bar/restaurants nearby, and the pleasant seaside resort of Torre-del-Mar is only a 25 minute drive and offers all facilities and shops, as well as many good restaurants (particularly fish) and large weekly market (Thursdays). Also, just out of town, are a golf course and go-karting track.

The larger town of Velez Malaga is a 20 minute drive away and has all kinds of shops and a new large supermarket where all familiar (and unfamiliar!) items are available.There is also, just south of the town, a water-park for children (open June- September). Horseriding, tennis, mountain biking and boardsailing are all available at the "Villa-Turistica" near Periana, about 20 minutes away, and swimming, fishing, sailing and canoeing at Lake Vinuela.

Granada, with it's world famous Moorish Alhambra Palace and beautiful gardens, is only 1 hour away and, in winter months, you can be on the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada in 1 1/2 hours! Cordoba, Ronda, Antequerra and Seville are all easily accessible.
